The type of boots that are good for snow depend on your requirements. There is no single answer because everyoneās individual needs will be different. However, we can provide some guidance on what to look for.
Snow boots are not just for snow. They also should help you combat the rest of the harsh conditions winter brings. Winter ushers in wet weather, glacial temperatures and slippery surfaces. Sorel understands that you want footwear that can embrace all of winterās weather, not just snow. Discover the type of snow boot you need based on what conditions you will encounter, as well as what kind of style you are looking for. Rest assured, Sorel has the perfect pair for you.
Types of snow
Determining which type of snow you are likely to encounter will help you to decide which type of uppers are most suitable.
Heavy snowfall will require footwear with tall uppers. Tall uppers provide protection against thick blankets of snow.
For the wet, slushy conditions you will likely face in more urban areas, ankle-height or mid-height uppers will be appropriate.
Many of our snow boots for women feature uppers made from waterproof materials. These materials are offered in natural and synthetic options. Our natural uppers are made from leather and suede, which are incredibly robust. Our synthetic uppers are often made from nylon or canvas, which are more lightweight than their natural counterparts.
For concerns of flurries sneaking down the top of your boots, many of our uppers feature functional faux fur cuffs or collars.
Cold temperatures
Winter weather inevitably welcomes frigid temperatures. You should be choosing snow boots that provide ample insulation to keep heat in and cold out.
The warmth of our snow boots is unparalleled. Each pair we manufacture features warmth and protection for the coldest days.
Many of our models deliver 100g ā 300g of built-in insulation, usually made from cosy fleece. Other options feature removable felt linings between 6mm ā 9mm thick. For additional warmth, these liners are also available separately in felt and Thermoplus.
Icy surfaces
Icy surfaces go hand in hand with freezing temperatures. Sorel ensures the soles of each pair of winter shoes and boots provide superior grip on slippery ground.
To provide stability and support, many of our slip-resistant snow boots feature enhanced traction with our Sorel Aero-Trac non-loading outsoles. Others include a herringbone design outsole or a multi-directional lug outsole. For our most premium grip on multi-terrain surfaces, try our footwear that features EVERTREADTM.
Waterproofing
Alongside snow and ice, winter delivers plenty of wet weather. In order to keep your feet warm, you must keep them dry. Sorel offers superb waterproofing for most of our winter footwear.
Some of our models include moulded rubber outsoles with seam-sealed construction. Others feature the same material used to manufacture some dry suits ā handcrafted, waterproof, vulcanised rubber outsoles. Water ingress is not a problem with Sorelās collection of waterproof winter footwear.
Comfort and style
While protection against winter conditions is essential, Sorel understands that comfort and style are also important.
You must ensure that you select the right size of snow boots. A pair that fits properly will keep you comfortable and help protect you against blisters. If you anticipate winter activities, consider our lace-up options. The laces allow you to tighten and secure the fit of your footwear, delivering great support for your ankle.
Sorelās collection also includes many trendy colours of snow boots. You are certain to find a colour for your winter wardrobe that reflects your personality and style. From classic and traditional to bold and unique, you are sure to find a colour for you.
